Flexo letterpress ink is a type of letterpress ink that is mainly used in the flexo letterpress printing process. Some people also believe that the printing plate, ink and impression process used in the flexo letterpress printing process are quite different from the traditional letterpress printing process, so it is independently classified as a printing method.

    Flexo letterpress printing refers to the use of flexible printing plates, ink transfer through the anilox ink transfer roller printing method, and the traditional letterpress printing plate is the same, the flexible version of the graphic part is also raised, and are in direct contact with the printing plate and the substrate.

    The ink used in flexo letterpress printing is generally volatile drying-based liquid ink, there are also some that use oxidation conjunctive film, penetration drying paste ink, and UV light curing UV flexible ink. Depending on the solvent used, flexo letterpress inks can be divided into solvent-based inks, alcohol-based inks and water-based inks.

    Flexographic inks consist of colorants, resins, solvents and additives. Since flexographic printing is suitable for printing on a variety of substrates such as paper, plastic and metal, flexographic inks adapted to different substrates vary greatly in the choice of raw materials.

     Colorants can be used dyes and inorganic and organic pigments.

    The resins include acrylic resins, polyamide resins, maleic resins, nitrocellulose, shellac, PVC resins, polyketone resins, modified malic acid resins, epoxy resins and alkyd resins.

    The solvents used are alcohols (such as methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, etc.), esters (such as methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, etc.), hydrocarbons (including alkanes and aromatics such as n-hexane, n-heptane, benzene, toluene, xylene, etc.), ketones (such as acetone, cyclohexanone, etc.), ethers (such as ethylene glycol methyl ether, ethylene glycol ethyl ether, etc.) and water, etc.

  The additives include plasticizers, defoamers, anti-pinhole agents, lubricants, anti-settling agents, friction-resistant agents, etc.
