1 dispersion

    Foamed plastic cells are fine and uniform, especially closed-cell foam products. If the solid particles in the formula are not well dispersed and there are relatively coarse particles, it will cause abnormally large cells and affect the quality of the product.

Therefore, pigments used in foamed plastic articles need to have good dispersibility.

2 heat resistance

    As far as the temperature of the foaming process is concerned, it is not very high in all plastic processing, but the foaming process takes a long time (high foaming requires 160 ° C, 30 minutes), so the high temperature time that the pigment needs to withstand is also corresponding. Long, without a certain heat resistance can not fully meet the requirements of the processing technology.

Especially with high foaming process, the foaming time is long, so classic azo pigments cannot be used.

3 Choose pigments with high tinting strength

    Foamed plastics have a strong decolorizing effect due to the existence of fine air cells, which is the main reason why foamed plastics products, especially high-rate foamed products, are rarely seen in dark products with bright colors.

Therefore, choosing a pigment product with high tinting strength can well help improve the color performance of foamed products.

4 Migration and Solvent Resistance
    Foam is widely used in sports mats/pads, sports shoes, and beach slippers where bright colors are required, and these products often have matching colors.

    Therefore, the boundaries of each color must be kept clear, and there is no phenomenon of mutual contamination. This requires that the pigments used must have good migration resistance.

    Many chemical additives are used in the foaming process. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the pigment does not react with these additives; some foam sheets require multi-layer bonding, and the bonding surface needs to be cleaned with a solvent before bonding; the pigment must also be able to ensure that it does not react with these chemicals.
